Twisted Ponytail Tutorial

A simple and beautiful way to spice up any ponytail!

I like to wear my ponytail up high when I want it too look a little more dressed up, and of course, covering the elastic with your own hair does wonders as well.

Put your hair in a ponytail. Make it as smooth as possible. can use a glosser (I prefer the purology glosser) to make it shiny and then spray it with hairspray to avoid flyaways. Try not to get hairspray on the part you will be braiding with because it will create tangles while you are trying to work. To cover the elastic this time, I took a small piece of hair from the underside of the ponytail, braided it, would it around the elastic and pinned it down with a bobby pin. This step is optional.

When you have finished that, you are going to take a small piece of hair from the top, center of the ponytail, split those in two and twist them going the same direction.

Take a section of hair from each side and add it in to each side. Twist again, going the same direction as before.

Now twist these together, going the opposite direction. This is the trick to holding the twist together.

You are going to repeat that step all the way down until you run out of hair to add in. Finish it off by just doing a twist without adding hair into it until you reach the ends. Finish off with an elastic.

This hairstyle is best done on dry, straight hair.
